ITAP Dance - Iona Talented Achievers Program
ITAP Dance is a specialised program designed for students in Years 7 to 12 who are passionate about dance. This program allows students to train smarter, not harder, with two dedicated periods per fortnight scheduled during sports time. It is a year-long commitment.
Our goal is to equip students with a strong awareness of injury prevention by developing their strength, flexibility, and stamina. The program fosters a supportive training environment that not only enhances performance but also helps prevent and rehabilitate injuries. Students will participate in Pilates and conditioning classes alongside targeted technique training. For example, classical ballet. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to apply their skills in choreographed contemporary routines, enhancing their artistry and performance.
ITAP Dance is ideal for students who are committed to dance as an art form and are eager to deepen their understanding of safe dance practices, adjunct training, and technical proficiency.
This is a Co-curricular Plus activity, meaning there is an associated cost to help cover the additional expenses. In 2026, the annual fee is $100.
Students are required to audition for the ITAP Dance program.
Auditions will take place during sport time in Weeks 1 and 2 in Term 1 each year. Successful applicants will be announced by Week 3. All other students return to sport for Week 3.

Week 2: Auditioned Class 2
Week 2: Successful applicants in Years 9-11 advised by letter.
Week 3: Successful applicants in Years 7 and 8 advised by letter.
